Drs. Steve Shapiro and Todd Mahr: Jordan, Johnny Davis bring generosity, vision to camp
We are writing to express our deep appreciation for Jordan and Johnny Davis and the time they dedicated during their recent basketball camp to Children’s Miracle Network Hospital heroes and their siblings.
It was humbling to witness the impact nationally known athletes like Johnny, a current NBA player for the Washington Wizards, and Jordan, a current player for Illinois State and former Wisconsin Badger, can have on their community.
This thoughtful gesture not only underscores their dedication to the sport but also their heartfelt commitment to local children and families who face medical challenges daily. Their willingness to give back to their community and spend time with these young heroes is a testament to their character and the power of sports to unite and uplift.
By inviting these young heroes to participate in the camp, Jordan and Johnny created a unique opportunity for these children to experience joy, camaraderie and the thrill of the game. Such inclusion is incredibly meaningful, as it allows these children to momentarily step away from their medical struggles and simply be kids, enjoying the excitement of basketball.
The Davis brothers have shown how sports can transcend the game itself, becoming a source of hope, inspiration and community support. Their efforts not only raise awareness for CMN Hospitals but also foster a sense of solidarity and encouragement among the families affected.
To Jordan and Johnny, we commend your generosity and vision. These kids and their parents will never forget the experience, the act of kindness and how you made them feel.
